PRE-DRIED FLOWER GUIDE:

if you are shipping your pre-dried flowers to us please make sure that whatever box/container you are shipping them in they are secured and not able to bounce around because when your blooms are in the dried state they are of course a lot more fragile then fresh blooms. Also you will want to make sure that they are not easily able to be crushed. *** Address at bottom***

FRESH FLOWER GUIDE:

Packing Care Guide

We recommend shipping your flowers as soon as possible, to us 24-48 hours after your special event. Flowers dry prettiest when they arrive fresh and happy! Please do be aware that Bloom is not responsible for bouquet shipment delays/ misplaced and/or damaged by the shipping provider before arriving to the shop.

Warning: Keep your flowers in the refrigerator until shipment, DO NOT FREEZE!

How to Care for flowers after event (PLEASE READ ALL INFO CAREFULLY):

After your event is over here are some tips to keep your flowers fresh until you are ready to get them to us for preservation.

  • AGAIN DO NOT FREEZE YOUR FLOWERS!!! I cannot stress this enough!
  • If possible trim off about 1/8″ from stem and place in a vase with a little water. If your bouquet is in an oasis you’ll want to add water to the foam to keep the flowers hydrated.
  • Keep flowers upright in the refrigerator while hydrating. Make sure the temperature is not too cold or the flowers are touching the walls as this can cause cold damaged. If a refrigerator is not available, keep hydrated in a cool place away from direct sun light.
  • Make sure to make arrangements to get your flowers to us as soon as possible after your event. The fresher the flowers are when we receive them, the better results when they’re preserved.
  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Through the preservation process colors of botanicals may get darker or lighter, some may even change hues.
  • Styrofoam cooler larger than your actual grouping of flowers, arrangement or bouquet.
  • Cardboard box large enough to accommodate cooler
  • Packing material– we recommend either crumpled newspaper or Styrofoam packing peanuts.  Please don’t use bubble wrap, plastic bags or plastic products to package your flowers.
  • Packing tape
  • A frozen coolant block(like the Blue Ice or gel refrigerant coolants that you’d use in a picnic cooler or lunch box to keep your food or drinks cold).  If you don’t have one of these coolants readily available, you can “make” one with 2 large ziplock bags( double or triple bag if needed you don't want the freezing water leaking out onto the flowers they will get soggy, wilted, and or moldy), ice and paper towels.  Simply fill your ziplock bag with several handfuls of ice as well as handfuls of paper towels.  The paper towels will soak up the ice-water when the cubes melt and prevent leaking inside the shipping box.  Zip bag 1 shut.  Then put the filled zip lock bag inside a second ziplock bag to prevent further leaking and zip that bag shut as well.  There you go!  Instant coolant block! ***IMPORTANT*** If it is the warmer months of the year please put extra ice in with your blooms, when you think you may have enough ICE/COOLANT packs add lots MORE!!!! We are in Texas and it can get warm! If it is Summer it is even better to use dry ice If you can find it!
  • Your contact information (PLEASE DONT FORGET)– -name, address, telephone numbers (We use the phone numbers to let you know flowers have arrived, send design concept for approval, and send sneak peeks when your piece/pieces are complete) and email address.  This way we know who your flowers belong to when they arrive and we can contact you to schedule your design consultation when it is time to do so. Please don't forget to send us a photo of your bouquet for design reference whether you want to print it off and put it with your flowers or just send it through etsy messenger!

Steps:

  • If you can, deconstruct your bouquet by taking the ribbon and floral tape off of the bouquet. Place flowers as flat as possible. Cut just a small amount off of the ends of your flowers (just a couple centimeters is best) at a diagonal with sharp scissors. (Important: Include ALL of your bouquet. The more flowers we have to work with, the better.)
  • Wrap a damp paper towel around the stems
  • Wrap the wet paper towel in plastic wrap (or plastic bag) and secure with a rubber band.
  • If your bouquet has Dahlia’s or Sunflowers please wrap them separately as they are much more fragile and decompose faster than other flowers.
  • Tape cooling material to bottom of Styrofoam cooler with duct tape.
  • Place foil paper on top of cooling material.
  • Place a layer of the crumpled paper or peanuts on top of foil so flowers are not in direct contact with cool pack/ice pack.
  • If flowers are in oasis just make sure oasis is very moist.
  • Place flowers on layer of crumpled paper or peanuts.
  • Add remaining crumpled paper or peanuts to fill Styrofoam cooler so that flowers are not bouncing around during shipping. Do not pack it tightly or flowers could get crushed.
  • If you are shipping any items with flowers that could potentially get water damaged, please place them inside a tightly sealed Ziploc bag.
  • Tape lid securely on Styrofoam cooler.
  • Place Styrofoam cooler inside cardboard box and place paper or peanuts all around cooler to make sure that the cooler is secure inside the box and there is no room for it to move around and close it with packing tape.
  • Label box “Fragile – Do Not Crush” on all sides and “This side up”

You are now ready to send your flowers to us! We HIGHLY recommend overnighting you're blooms to us especially during hotter months. We of course realize that overnighting them to us can be costly, the next best thing would be FedEx or UPS. 1-2 DAY shipping but again in the summer time remember it is warm and if your flowers get warm then they may not make it to us so if you are going to go this route make sure again there is PLENTY of ICE/COOLANT materials in there for your blooms! If using anything other than overnighting you're fresh blooms and following the shipping instructions that we have provided to a tee we cannot by any means guarantee the shape that they will arrive in! Please do not require signature when sending flowers because if we are in our resin room and can't hear the door for packages then your package will get delayed and your flowers will probably then not make it to us in good condition!!!
